Dingle has become a popular destination for weddings. Over half
of the weddings now taking place in the Dingle Peninsula, are marriages between
visitors, who arrive as man and woman, and leave as husband and wife. There are
many beautiful churches and shrines dotted around the area, and the Peninsula
has a fantastic selection of Accommodation centres and wedding venues
available. Coupled with the large selection of wedding day related services in
the Dingle Area, all this helps to make Dingle Peninsula an ideal wedding
venue..Congratulations! A bonus on your wedding day. Dingle is home to
three nationally and internationally acclaimed goldsmiths. Original and
beautiful designs in gold and precious metals, each smith with a unique style
and look. Check them out on line.
We Irish are a notoriously superstitious crowd. Since the times of
druids and ancient spirits, all aspects of Irish life and society is permeated
with traditions and piseogs.
Every February 29th, the Leap Year, Irish Tradition allowed women
to propose to their sweetheart. This is a tradition that has survived to this
day. It is good luck to have your birthstone in your engagement ring,
even if the stone is otherwise considered lucky.
If the bride's wedding dress is accidentally torn on the day, it
will bring good luck for the couple. On Hallowe'en the Irish have a tradition of baking barmbrack (
Gaelic term for "speckled bread") with a wedding ring wrapped in paper or cloth
and mixed into the dough. Traditionally, if your slice of the barmbrack contained the
wedding ring, you would be engaged before the end of the year. And of course, Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed,
